To honor the holy month of Ramadan...
Allah is the Most Generous One, especially to us, the human beings. We can see Allah's generousity throughout Ramadan. During the thirty days of Ramadan, what ever good thing that we do will be rewarded abundantly.
One of my favorite things to do during the fasting month is reciting the Koran. Why?

The Koran consists of 6666 verses in its 114 surah. How much time do we need to finish reciting the whole book of Koran? A disciplined student in a pesantren can finish it within less than a month. A regular person needs much longer time: several months or years or perhaps a life time long. One thing to keep in mind is that there is a big reward for a person every time s/he finishes reciting the whole book of Koran (=khatam).
Ramadan offers extra bonuses. A fasting person in Ramadan, who recites just one verse, will get the same reward as reciting the whole Koran outside the fasting month. I read 50 verses on the first day of this Ramadan. If I manage to do it at the same rate in between my hectic household chores every day, then I will have read 30 x 50 verses = 1500 verses by the end of Ramadan. The reward is the same as if I completed the whole Koran 1500 times!!!
One other thing that excites me very much is shalat fardhu (the five time daily prayers). I often do it in a small musholla next to my house with such a peaceful feeling and even with a smile in my face, knowing that each shalat fardhu in Ramadan is rewarded 70 times the same shalat fardhu outside Ramadan.
Finally, there is a daily mission that I never want to skip. I love preparing snack and distributing it to at least five people I meet after midday. They could be children or sellers who pass the street where I live or my nearest neighbors. What kind of snack do I distribute? Any kind of simple meals: fruit, fried bananas, crackers etc. And why five people? A person, who provides somebody else with food or drink to break fasting, will get the same reward of doing fasting him/herself. That means, if I manage to keep distributing snack for at least five people every day, I will get a reward as if I fasted for an additional 30 days x 5 = 150 days by the end of ramadan!!!
